Your Guide to Chiropractic Wellness
Taking a Natural Systemic Approach to Healing
Chiropractic is a way of looking at the human body as a whole. It is based on the idea that the body is self-sustaining and self-healing.
Your body is controlled by your brain, but the spinal cord and vast network of nerves that carry its messages are just as important. When this system is not functioning at its peak, your body's overall performance suffers.
In the chiropractic world, we don't use drugs to treat our patients. While supplementation and nutrition are almost always a part of the bigger picture, drugs and prescriptions can be viewed as band-aids to treat symptoms rather than treating the source of the problem. Chiropractic treats the problem naturally and in turn prompts the body to heal itself.
While it's often perceived that the chiropractor solely treats back and neck pain, this is a small piece of what the profession is capable of handling. Chiropractors not only treat soft and hard tissue problems such as sciatica and joint pain, but are largely called on to deal with many different health issues. Some of these issues include fibromyalgia, insomnia, and headaches among many more.
Daily Habits for a Healthier Spine
Keep your chin up and your shoulders back. Keep both feet about shoulder-width apart to maintain balance and reduce strain on your lower back.
Rise every 30 minutes to stretch. Choose a chair that supports your lower back, keep feet flat on the floor, and knees at 90 degrees. Your computer screen should be at eye-level so you are not looking down at it.
Start by squatting down to the object with one foot slightly in front of the other. Keep your back straight, only bending at the knees and hips. Hold objects close to your body and avoid twisting while lifting.
Always prepare your body before physical activities, even light ones like gardening or household chores. A brief warm-up helps prevent strains and injuries.
If you are forced to use the telephone for a long period of time, a speaker or a headset is a must. Never cradle the phone between your ear and shoulder.
Make sure your pillow supports your neck and head so that it lays neutral with the rest of your spine. Avoid sleeping on your stomach, and use pillows appropriately for back and side positions.
The bones of the spine lose their normal motion and position, affecting how the spine moves and functions as a whole.
Improper spinal function can irritate, stretch, or compress delicate nerve tissue, disrupting communication between the brain and body.
Muscles supporting the spine can weaken, atrophy, or become tight and go into spasm due to subluxation.
A rise in body temperature, swelling, and tissue damage occurs as discs, ligaments, and other spinal tissues are affected.
Abnormal bony growths and spinal decay can develop as the body attempts to stabilize the affected area over time.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost. If you don't have insurance or choose not to use it, your healthcare provider must give you an estimate of expected charges when you schedule a service or upon request. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you can dispute the charges. We are also able to treat VA patients with a valid VA referral — please bring your referral documentation to your first visit so we can coordinate your care.
All patients who are uninsured or who choose not to use their insurance are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate. Under federal law, healthcare providers must inform you of your right to a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling any non-emergency service.
A Good Faith Estimate includes the total expected cost of your chiropractic care, covering the consultation, examination, adjustments, and any recommended therapies. It also accounts for related expenses such as diagnostic tests, equipment, and any additional fees—so you have a clear, upfront understanding of what to expect.
Simply contact our office by phone at (941) 405-4088 or email us and let us know you’d like a Good Faith Estimate. We’ll provide one within the required timeframe before your scheduled appointment. You may also request an estimate at any point during your care. For questions or more information about your rights under the No Surprises Act, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

Answers to Your Most Common Questions
Chiropractic helps to remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can accumulate in our bodies over time. It works to restore the function of your nervous system by eliminating interference caused by misaligned vertebrae, allowing your body to heal naturally.
Beyond addressing back and neck pain, chiropractic care supports peak bodily performance through adjustments and wellness strategies. It has assisted patients with a wide range of conditions from fibromyalgia to migraines, and helps maintain overall health and well-being.
Subluxation occurs when vertebrae become misaligned. This misalignment puts pressure on nerves and interrupts the natural pathways that messages sent from the brain need to travel clearly throughout the body.
Chiropractic operates on the premise that the body is self-sustaining and self-healing. The brain controls all bodily functions through the spinal cord and nerve networks. Rather than using pharmaceuticals, chiropractors address root causes through structural and nutritional approaches.
Adjustments are used to realign vertebrae through a quick, controlled movement using hands or specialized instruments. The process is typically painless. The popping sound you may hear, similar to cracking your knuckles, is simply gas being released from the joints.
Your initial visit will focus on understanding your health history, current condition, and wellness objectives through a thorough discussion and examination with the practitioner.
Results depend on removing both structural and chemical imbalances in the body. Once these are addressed through chiropractic care, your body is able to function more optimally and heal as it was designed to.
