Traction Treatments

Are you suffering from neck or lower back pain? Do you have disc problems? If so, you may be the perfect candidate for traction therapy. This non-invasive treatment can relieve your pain and encourage long-term healing.

Understanding the Spine

Your spine consists of small bones called vertebrae with soft, cushioning discs between them. The discs prevent the bones from rubbing against each other, allowing nerves to exit the spine and travel throughout the body.

An injury or damage to your back can cause the discs to become damaged, resulting in a bulging or herniated disc. When this happens, it can put direct pressure on the nerves and be extremely painful.

What is Chiropractic Traction Therapy?

Traction therapy involves gently pulling the vertebrae apart in the area where the disc is damaged. The separation enables healing to take place and can cause almost immediate relief. Also, the increased space can allow the disc to receive more nourishment and begin your journey to long-term healing.

There are several types of chiropractic traction therapy. Manual traction is performed by the chiropractor using their hands, while pulleys may be used to assist. Mechanical traction utilizes a set of motorized pulleys, and computerized traction is controlled by a computer and utilizes a split-traction table and harness.
